Come and celebrate 100 years (August 12th, 1912-October 30,1997), of one of the true mavericks of modern cinema, and man who reads as well as he is watched, the legend of Sam Fuller. The American Cinematheque will proudly present 6 Fuller films over 3 nights this weekend, August 24th-26th, and we’ll proudly sit in the lobby on Saturday the 25th with Christa Lang Fuller, Sam’s wife and the person behind making sure this fantastic book, “A Third Face”, is out there to be read by all of us. She will be signing copies from 6:30-7:30. From the glory days of journalism in the New York of the 20′s,to Hollywood , Paris and beyond, Fuller’s story is so fantastic, it reads like fiction.
And then, there are the films, two of which, “Pickup on South Street” & “Underworld U.S.A.” will be introduced by Christa. Samantha Fuller will also be on hand to discuss her kickstarter project , “A Fuller Life”. If you can’t make it Saturday, come for one of the other nights for, “The Steel Helmet” ,”Forty Guns” or “the Naked Kiss” or “Shock Corridor”, all worth repeated viewing.
If you can’t make it, order a copy signed by Christa Fuller, and we’ll get it sent out.
Please, enjoy the “Sam-tennial”!
